WRITE YOUR SITCOM PILOT!!!
I’m teaching a class. Write Your Sitcom Pilot! We’re gonna do two different, sections, six classes in each section, on ZOOM, in hopes of accommadating everybody who wants to take the class. One is Thursday evening, the other is Saturday afternoon,
WHAT
In a series of six two-hour classes (including a Q and A every week), you will develop and write a sitcom pilot script based on your own original idea. All aspects of the process will be covered: inventing a world, developing the characters, breaking the original story, rewriting based on feedback, pitching a pilot episode idea, creating an outline for the pilot, and finally, if you do the work, writing the script.
In addition to 6 group meetings, taking the class means you will get a one-on-one session with me to go over your entire script point by point. The class costs #399. And just so you know, when I give script notes privately, that session alone is $350. So you’re basically getting that, plus six classes, for $49 more. What a deal!

WHY
Accomplishment- you’ll feel so good when you finish that first draft.
Networking- you’ll come into contact with lots of talented people who will become your fellow writers going forward.
Accountability- you’ll have assignments every week that we will then discuss, so you better keep up.
Expertise- I’ve been writing TV for twenty years, and doing comedy for even more than that. I’m really, really good at both of those things. I’ve also been a teacher, one form or another, for my entire adult life. Not just sitcom writing, but sketch stuff, improv, and even really hard stuff like junior high school science and math. I can explain everything in a way that will be clear and make sense, and help you through the process.
Do it. Write your sitcom pilot.
“This class made me a better writer. This class helped me get a job writing for television.”
“A great class that will teach you the ins and outs of breaking a story, and will give you a lot of tools to help you as a professional writer. Sean’s patient, hilarious, and very smart— you’ll leave his class knowing more and well on your way to a good spec script too if you put in the work. Take this class, it will help. Also, free soda!”
“Years of teaching and performing improv undoubtedly transfer over to Sean’s ability to drive story, keep it structured, all while keeping the writers in the room laughing their asses off. He brings a great energy to a room, and keeps it on track.”
“(Sean) effortlessly provides the space for your vision and words to find the most dynamic, interesting structure for your story. My background is playwriting but Sean helped demystify the often painstaking process of creating the most succinct, funny, compelling story collage. I have also leaned on Sean for help with pitches and that has been some of the most valuable time I’ve spent in this town. In fact, I sold a comedy pilot to Showtime largely because of Sean’s expert guidance and his famous ‘golden notes’”
“I’ve been in several writers rooms with Sean Conroy. He is that magical mix of a writer who can adeptly identify story or character problems in a script and masterfully fix them, while also being one of the funniest people in any room. If I could have taken a class with Sean and partaken of his intuition and wisdom when I started it would have put me years ahead of other beginners.”
“Taking Sean’s class was probably the best thing I’ve ever done for my career. Seriously. I went from being a funny guy who was solid at writing jokes to being a funny guy who is now able to write a complete TV script. The techniques that I learned from him gave me the skills and confidence to take my ideas to the next level and make money as a writer. He is THE G.O.A.T. ”
“What makes Sean such a great comic comes from years of performing, but what makes him such a great writer comes from also having such an in depth understanding of story structure. In the writer’s room, Sean knows how to make a joke that’s not only funny, but also works to serve a story. Also, Sean taught me what the word ‘guffaw’ means.”
