Sean Conroy Gets Happier is a curious exploration of the art and science of happiness. As a comedian, Sean Conroy has spent his entire career trying to make other people happier. He's experienced everything from crackerjack, blockbuster, megahit success to incredible, amazing, life-changing success. In fact, the only person he hasn't managed to make happier is himself! Now he's trying to figure out how to turn his own frown upside down. Meditation, sugar, exercise, money, social media, comic books, friendships, romance, sports, hallucinogenics, role playing games, kale-- Sean talks to other comics about what makes them happy, and to experts about what might help him. Every week on Sean Conroy Gets Happier.

Jen Kirkman Admires Madonna

Jen’s podcast is called Having Funlessness, and it’s great. Highly recommend.

There was a weird period in the 80’s where Australia became the coolest place in the world, thanks to Paul Hogan and Crocodile Dundee. That’s where the Outback Steakhouse comes from, and the beer commercials about how Australians talked weird (although in this one they say “put another shrimp on the barbie”).

I promise going forward I’m going to try not to bring up the Bible every five seconds, but the Job speech in the first episode of Fargo Season 2 on FX is one of the greatest things ever. Of course, I couldn’t find that, so please enjoy this weird animation.

Joe is not the only famous Friday- there’s Robinson Crusoe’s pal, the King of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe (and yes, he’s Friday XIII), and the Ice Cube flick. But Joe is by far the hippest Friday: here he is talking about what you or I might call California Sunshine, or the Golden Dragon, or even Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. That’s because we’re not straight shooters. But Joe is.

Here’s a clip of the person Jen admires. I feel like she tried to walk it back a little bit, which I understand completely, but I also feel like anybody who says they DON’T admire Madonna is either lying or stupid. The woman is a fucking badass.

And finally, here’s Jen working her magic on Chelsea Lately.

Lauren Duca Wants a Revolution

Here’s a clip from Grateful Dead fan Tucker Carlson’s show where Lauren went toe to toe with him, and in my opinion came out on top (by a lot). I had JUST started checking in with Fox News shows on a regular basis and was in a constant state of astonishment at their broadcasters and the general tenor and tone of the network, and this interview blew my mind, man.

Sometimes I use words that have fallen out of favor in the English language, like “ken,” and whenever I do, I’m reminded of exactly why nobody uses them anymore.

Lauren quoted Rupaul, and although of course I know who Rupaul is, I didn’t realize Rupaul saying “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gon’ love somebody else?” was the reality TV equivalent of Fonzie saying, “Bang! Zoom! To the moon, Alice!”

It always amazes me when people don’t know Kirk and Spock. As far as I’m concerned they’re one of the all-time power duos, right up there with Adam and Eve, Loggins and Messina, Abbot and Costello, Ferdinand and Isabella, Tristan and Isolte... okay, it’s a lot to remember.

And never forget, Constant Vigilance!
